PROMOTION POLICY AS PER CBSE GUIDELINES

Primary ( Class I – V )

In our school assessments are done for learning and learning is not done for assessments. Students are assessed in scholastic and co -scholastic areas throughout the year. The progress of the student is judged through continuous academic performance during the year and comprehensive evaluation.

Academic year has two terms:  First term – April to September and Second term – October to March.

 

Weekly and Summative Assessments

Classes 4 & 5 have two summative assessments (SA) at the end of each term which comprises of 60 marks test.

 

Skill evaluation is done four times in a year for classes 1 to 5 : one for each quarter on the following basis:

Class VI-VIII

As far as overall assessment of a student for the purpose of promotion to next class is concerned, the following points will be adhered to:

1. Each student is required to get a qualifying grade ‘D’ or above in all the subjects in the Scholastic Area.
2. If a student does not secure grade D in the annual examination, he shall be granted opportunity for improvement test within a period of two months from the date of declaration of the result of such annual examination. He will have to score qualifying grade D in all the subjects.
3. Admission to class IX in a school shall be given to such a student who has passed class VIII examination with minimum grade ‘D’ in all scholastic subjects.
4. If a student of grade VIII scores less than grade D in the improvement test, the school has to detain that child in eighth class.
5. A student must have attended school with minimum 75% attendance to be eligible for promotion to the next higher grade.

Class IX

As per the Assessment structure and examination pattern of class IX, students will be assessed on the entire syllabus of the Academic Year.

Promotion to the next class is subject to the following:

1. A student must secure 33% marks out of 80 marks in each subject in Annual Examination conducted by the school.
2. It is also mandatory for the student to secure 33% marks out of overall 20 marks (Internal Assessment) in each subject.
3. Students to obtain a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible to appear in final examination.
4. In case any student does not meet the above criteria the student will be detained in the same class.

 

Class XI

1.   Promotion is granted on the basis of the performance of the pupil during the entire session.
2.   A student must secure at least 33% in all the subjects individually and in aggregate in theory as well as practical subjects separately for fulfilling the pass criteria.
3.   In case the pupil has secured less than 33% in one subject only and 33% and more in all other subjects in theory and practical examination separately, pupil will be eligible for ‘Compartment’ examination.
4.   In case the student has secured less than 33% in two or more subjects, pupil will not be eligible for ‘compartment’ examination and will be detained in the same class.
5.   Students to obtain a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible to appear in final examination.

 

Innovative Practices Adopted

The overarching theme of the education policies is to achieve quality and innovation and to move from rote learning to knowledge transfer. To inculcate the same, at Modi School Ishwariya , the curriculum is structured to include Innovative activities, which cater to Multiple intelligences and inculcate 21st century skills. The concept of Blended Learning is incorporated through ICT Tools (Information and computer technologies) to create e-learning classrooms. 

The Active Learning Strategies like the Flipped Learning Classrooms De Bono’s Thinking Hats, Interdisciplinary teaching-learning approach, STEM and STEAM engage students in higher order thinking tasks of critical thinking, analyzing, synthesizing and evaluating. 

 

Book List Policy

Modi School Ishwariya is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and follows the prescribed curriculum envisioning vibrant and holistic school education.

The school focuses on developing enquiring minds, scientific temper and character building as the core of our teaching and learning process. We have gone through the content of the books prescribed and take responsibility for the same as we believe in a spirit of excellence in all spheres- academic, sports and culture along with a spirit of service to the society and the nation.
